Our school is on Diary Road in the Rajendra Nagar part of Hyderabad. It’s a neighborhood where everyone seems to know everyone else. We have a modest building that we’ve used for years to teach the local children. The 500030 area has changed a lot, with new houses and shops popping up everywhere, but our school stays pretty much the same. Every morning, the street gets narrow because of all the rickshaws and parents dropping off their kids. We have a small entrance that leads into the classrooms. It’s not a huge place, so we have to be careful about how we use the space. The teachers are mostly women from the surrounding colony who have been with us for a long time. We don't have a big sports field, so the kids play in the small open area we have or just in the corridors when it's too hot outside. The walls are painted a simple yellow, and we have lots of drawings made by the students pinned up everywhere. Hyderabad can get very humid, so we keep the fans going at full speed. We don't have any corporate backing or fancy equipment. It’s just a neighborhood school where we teach the basics and make sure the kids are safe during the day. We are just regular people doing our best to keep a small school running in a big city for the families who live nearby.
