Lavanya Flour Mill

The smell of ground wheat and grain is pretty much part of the air here in New Maruthi Nagar. Lavanya Flour Mill has been at 1-5-113/A for a while now, and we’re right in the middle of the Kothapet area. It’s a loud place when the motors are running, and you can barely hear yourself talk sometimes. We get a lot of people from the LB Nagar and Saroornagar side coming in with their bags of grain. It’s a dusty job, and by the end of the day, most of us are covered in a fine layer of white powder. We don’t have much in the way of a waiting room, just a couple of benches where people sit and wait for their flour to be ready. The machines need a lot of looking after, and we’re always oiling something or tightening a belt. It’s not the kind of work for everyone, but it’s what we know. We see the same faces every week, and we know exactly how they like their flour ground. Some want it coarse, some want it fine, and we just do our best to get it right. It’s a simple business, really. We just take what the customers bring in and turn it into something they can use at home. The district gets busy, but inside the mill, it’s just the sound of the stones turning. That is how it's been for years and hopefully for years more.
