Kohirs Food Products

We spend a lot of time here at 89/3 in Sri Kuruba Market. It’s usually pretty loud around Old Malakpet by the time we get the shutters open in the morning. My father started things out and now we just keep the machines running every day. There’s always someone coming by asking for something or another. We don’t have fancy signs or anything. Most people just know where we are. It gets hot in the afternoons, so we keep the fans going and try to get the packing done before the sun gets too high. Sometimes the electricity goes out and we just sit outside and talk to the other shop owners until it comes back on. It’s a busy spot. You see all kinds of people walking through the market. We mostly just focus on getting the food items ready for the next day's orders. Kohirs Food Products isn't a huge place, but it's ours. We have a couple of guys who help with the heavy lifting and the cleaning. It feels like we’ve been here forever, even if the walls are starting to peel a bit. The floors are worn down from all the boots and crates moving across them. We eat our lunch together in the back office, which is really just a desk and some chairs. It’s just how things are done here in this part of town. We don’t think much about the future, just making sure today’s work is done right.
