Ashkin Die Castings

Ashkin Die Castings is over at D-167, Phase-Ili, Ida. We are right in the middle of the industrial area, which means it’s never really quiet around here. We work with molds and molten metal to make different parts. It’s a hot and loud environment, but that’s the nature of die casting. Every morning we start by getting the machines warmed up and checking the molds for the day's run. We aren't a massive factory with thousands of workers. We are a smaller operation where everyone has to know how to do a bit of everything. There’s always the smell of oil and metal in the air. Our floor is usually a bit greasy, and we have to be careful where we step. We don’t have a marketing department or a fancy lobby for visitors. Most people who come here are just delivery drivers or other business owners from the Ida area. We spend our time trying to make sure the parts come out right without too many defects. Sometimes a mold breaks and it sets us back a few hours, which is frustrating, but it’s part of the job. We just fix it and keep moving. It’s basic manufacturing work. We don't pretend to be anything more than a local shop doing our best with the equipment we have. The days go by pretty fast when the orders are steady and the machines are behaving themselves. We just keep at it day after day until the shift is over.
