Bhavani Plastics

If you look for Plot No 712 in Subhashnagar, you will find us there. The house number is 7 35/3 and it is right in the middle of Ida Jeedimetla. This is a heavy industrial area so there is always the sound of machinery and trucks passing by the gate. Bhavani Plastics is just one of many small shops around here. We have a couple of machines that run most of the day. They make a lot of noise but you stop hearing it after a while. The floor is usually covered in little bits of plastic and we have to sweep it out every evening before we lock up. It’s hot work, especially in the summer months when the metal roof traps all the heat. We drink a lot of water and keep the fans going. Most of our guys have been with us for a long time and they know the routines. We don't have a receptionist or anything like that. If someone comes to the door, whoever is closest just goes to see what they want. It’s a very informal way of doing things but it works for us. We keep our records in big handwritten ledgers because it feels more reliable than the computer sometimes. There is always a layer of dust on the windows from the factories nearby. We just keep our heads down and do our jobs until it is time to go.
