Plot No 18B in Phase I of the Jeedimetla IDA is where the machines are. Extrusion is a steady process, but it’s not always easy. The machines are old and they need a lot of looking after to keep the shapes coming out right. Jeedimetla is a tough place to work sometimes, with the heat and the constant hum of all the other factories around us. We’ve been in this plot for years. The floor is stained with coolant and there’s a specific smell of hot plastic that never really goes away.
We aren't a big corporation with people in suits. Most of us are in overalls and we’re usually busy adjusting the dies or checking the temperature gauges. We don’t have a fancy showroom. If a customer wants to see what we do, they come right onto the factory floor and see the machines running. It’s noisy and you have to wear earplugs if you’re staying for long. Sometimes the raw material doesn’t behave like it should, and we have to spend hours tweaking the settings. It’s more of a craft than people think. We don’t use any big words to describe what we do. We just make the parts that people order and try to get them out the door on time. The traffic in and out of Jeedimetla is a nightmare, so we’re always relieved when the delivery trucks finally show up. It is just basic manufacturing.
