Government Domestic Science Training College

Our college is tucked away in Lane No 5, right in the IOE Campus area of Nehru Nagar. If you are looking for Teacher's Colony in East Marredpally, you've probably passed us. It’s a government-run spot, so things are pretty traditional here. We focus on training people in domestic science, which means a lot of practical work. The building is older, with those long hallways typical of Hyderabad institutions. It gets quite warm in the afternoons, but we have high ceilings and some trees around. Students come here from all over the city. We have classrooms set up for cooking, sewing, and other household management skills. It’s not a high-tech place. We use old-fashioned methods because they still work. The staff is mostly people who have been in the teaching profession for decades. We have a lot of paperwork to deal with, being a government office. Every morning, there is a bit of a rush at the gate with students arriving. We try to keep things orderly, but with so many people, it can get hectic. It’s a quiet enough neighborhood otherwise. Most people who live nearby know the college. We just go about our business, training the next group of teachers and home scientists. It’s steady work, and we have been doing it for a long time. People come here to learn things they can actually use in life.
