If you are looking for our shop, it is at 42-16/3/2, right beside the petrol pump in S P Nagar. You can’t miss it because of all the metal noise and the smell of welding smoke. Being in Moula-Ali means there is always a lot of activity and vehicles coming and going nearby. We have been here for years, fixing things and cutting steel. The floor of the shop is stained with oil and there are metal shavings in every corner. We don't wear suits; our clothes usually have a few holes from the sparks. It’s a small space, so we have to be careful where we step. There is always a pile of scrap metal out back that we sort through eventually. The petrol pump next door is always busy, so there’s a constant stream of cars and bikes passing our front door. Sometimes people stop in just to borrow a wrench or ask for a quick weld on a broken part. We don't mind helping out. The work is loud and it gets very dusty, especially when the wind kicks up from the road. We have a small bench where we sit for lunch, usually just sharing whatever we brought from home. It’s a basic engineering shop, nothing more, nothing less. We just work with our hands until the sun goes down and then we lock the rolling shutter and go home to rest for the next day.
