Genpact

Down in Hyderabad, Genpact has this spot at Hig 1, Block 1, Flat No 3 in Baghlingampally 500044. Working out of a flat gives the whole place a very specific kind of feel. It’s not like those big buildings in Hitech City with the glass walls. This is more of a local, neighborhood kind of office. We’ve got the regular rooms turned into our workspaces. There’s always a bit of a hum from the ceiling fans and the computers running all day. The balcony looks out over the street, and it’s a good place to stand when you need a little break from the computer screen. We don’t have a fancy canteen here. Most of us just bring our food from home or grab something quick from the nearby stalls on the corner. The tea man comes around, and that’s usually the highlight of our afternoon. We know each other’s families and what’s going on in the neighborhood. It’s a very human way to work. We don't have those corporate mission statements hanging in frames on the walls. We just show up at Flat No 3 and get on with our tasks. Baghlingampally is a busy area, but once you’re inside Block 1, it’s actually relatively calm. It’s a practical setup for us. We’ve got what we need and nothing we don’t. It’s just a flat.
