Bidri Heritage

You can find us at Bidri Heritage. Our workshop is located at 10-5-1/1/C, near Masjid-E and Harman, right across from the Meher Function Hall in the Masab Tank area. We are on the road that leads toward Banjara Hills. We do Bidri work, which is a very old way of making decorative metal items. It takes a lot of patience and our hands are usually covered in black soot from the process. It’s not the kind of work you can do quickly. We’ve been in this same spot for a long time. The workshop is small and it’s filled with the smell of metal and fire. We don't have a big glass storefront or any fancy displays. Most people who come to see us are looking for something specific that they can't find in a regular store. The Masab Tank area is very noisy, but once you step inside our place, you mostly just hear the sound of small hammers hitting metal. It’s a craft we learned from the people before us, and we just keep doing it the same way. We aren't a big company with a lot of money. We’re just craftsmen. We don't have a website or anyone to do advertising for us. We just hope that people will see our sign and come in to see what we are making. It’s slow, hard work, but it’s what we know how to do.
