Over at the Vikasnagar campus in Hyderabad, things stay pretty busy with the R&D work going on. Dr. P. V. Rajgopal is around here quite a bit, keeping things moving in the Senior Deputy General Manager's office. The building has that specific look of an older research facility, with long hallways and plenty of equipment tucked away in different corners. Hyderabad weather can be tough, especially in the middle of the day, but we stay inside mostly. Our section focuses on PES, and there is always some kind of technical report or testing schedule on someone's desk. It is not all high-tech looking; there are plenty of old files and mismatched chairs in the break room. We usually get our lunch from the local canteen or bring dabbas from home. Vikasnagar is a bit of a trek for some of us, but you get used to the commute after a few months of doing it. The vibe is quiet, mostly because people are concentrating on their specific tasks. We have some green patches around the buildings which are nice to look at when you need a break from the computer screen. It is a large place, so you end up walking quite a bit just to get from one department to another. Most of the staff has been here for years, so everyone knows each other’s names and how they like their coffee. It’s a steady kind of place to be, and we just focus on the daily work without much fuss or fanfare.
