We operate out of Plot No 1699 on Road No 12, which is where Suvarna Apparel and Fashion Exports Ltd is based. It’s a big name for a place that’s mostly filled with the sound of sewing machines and people moving boxes. The address is 8 2 681/B/2/A/A, and we’ve been at this location for a good bit now. Most days start early with the arrival of fabric and end late when the final crates are packed up. There's always a lot of lint in the air and the smell of new clothes. We have rows of workstations where everyone focuses on their specific task. It’s not a glamorous fashion studio like you see on TV; it’s a real workshop with piles of patterns and thread everywhere. We spend a lot of time on our feet, checking the stitching and making sure the sizes are right before things go out. Road No 12 can get pretty busy with traffic, but inside we just focus on the rhythm of the machines. We don't have a big polished lobby. You walk in and you're pretty much right in the middle of the production area. Sometimes the coffee machine breaks, which is a bit of a disaster for us, but we get by. We just focus on the garments and getting the export containers filled. It’s hard work, but it’s what we know how to do here. That’s our daily life.
