Amar Handicrafts

Our shop, Amar Handicrafts, is tucked away at 8-2-403/2 on Plot No. 520, which is on Road No. 4 in Banjara Hills. It’s a pretty nice part of Hyderabad to work in, though it can get a bit congested during rush hour. We have a lot of different things here, from small wooden carvings to larger decorative pieces that people like to put in their gardens or living rooms. The address can be a bit confusing because of the way the plots are numbered, so we often have to give directions over the phone. Inside, it’s a bit of a maze with all the shelves and crates. We get items from all over, and unpacking them is always a bit of a surprise. Some of the stuff is a bit dusty when it arrives, so we spend time cleaning it up before putting it out. We don’t have a big corporate structure or anything like that. It’s mostly just family and a couple of helpers. We’ve seen a lot of regulars over the years who come back whenever they need a gift or something new for their house. We just enjoy the variety of the items we get to handle every day. It’s a slow-paced kind of business, which suits us just fine. We just open up in the morning, put out some of the bigger pots on the porch, and wait to see who drops by.
