Akshaya Upper Primary School

Over at Door No 2-2-231/22/C/2 in Bagh Amberpet, you will find Akshaya Upper Primary School. It is tucked away in a part of Amberpet that stays quite busy throughout the week. The school building is an older one, and you can see the history in the way the tiles are worn down in the middle of the hallway. We have students here who are a bit older, so the classrooms are filled with larger desks and more textbooks. There is a lot of chatter during the breaks between lessons. We don't have much in the way of fancy decorations, just some maps on the wall and a clock that’s usually a few minutes fast. The office is often full of folders and notebooks waiting to be corrected. Outside, the street is narrow, and you have to be careful when the school lets out because of all the bicycles and kids walking home. We have a small staff room where we sit and have tea while talking about the day's events. It isn't a huge place, but it serves the local community well enough. We see the same parents every day at the gate, and everyone knows each other's names. Sometimes the power goes out, and we just open the windows wider to let the breeze in. It is a straightforward kind of place where the focus is just on getting through the day's curriculum without too much trouble or noise.
