Om Sai Baby Care Centre

It starts pretty early here in Meerpet because parents have to get to work. By seven in the morning, the first kids are usually coming through the door. The rooms are full of colorful mats and those plastic toys that make a lot of noise. It’s never really quiet here, even during nap time because there’s always one baby who doesn’t want to sleep. We spend a lot of time on the floor, making sure nobody bumps their head or tries to eat something they shouldn't. The smell of baby powder and laundry soap is pretty much stuck in the walls now. We have a little kitchen area where we heat up bottles and mash up fruit. It’s a lot of work keeping everything clean, especially with toddlers running around all day. We use a lot of wipes and paper towels, that’s for sure. The backyard has a small patch of grass where we take them when the weather isn't too hot. You get used to the crying and the laughing after a while, it just becomes background noise. By the time the last parent comes to pick up their child in the evening, we are usually pretty tired. We do a final sweep of the floors, put the blocks back in the bins, and get everything ready to do it all over again the next day. It’s a long day, but seeing the kids grow up a little bit every week is something else.
