Ahmed Construction Material

Our yard is tucked away in the Old City, right near the Shamata Theater. It’s a crowded part of town, and the roads are pretty narrow, which makes getting the big supply trucks in and out a real challenge. At Ahmed Construction Material, we deal with a bit of everything, from sand to bricks. The area is always full of people, and the noise from the theater crowds can be quite loud in the evenings. We’ve been here long enough that we don't even notice the chaos anymore. Our space is usually overflowing with piles of stuff, so you have to watch where you step. It’s a family-run kind of feel here, even if we aren’t all related. We sit on plastic chairs out front when it’s not too busy and watch the world go by. The walls of our building are old and the paint is peeling, but it doesn't matter much for what we do. We don't have a computer system to track everything; we mostly just write it down in a big book. If someone needs a truckload of gravel, we figure it out and get it to them whenever the traffic allows. It’s a messy, loud, and busy place to work, but it’s home for us. We know all the regular customers and they know they can find us here near the theater. It’s just how we do things in the Old City and it keeps us moving.
