If you head over to Chirag Ali Lane in Abids, you’ll find us in the Raghava Ratna Towers at Door Number 1013. This part of the city is always packed with people and traffic, so getting to the office in the morning can be a bit of a struggle. Once you’re inside the tower, it’s a bit calmer. Our space is high up, and we have a view of the rooftops around Abids. We deal with silk exports here too, but it feels more like an office than a workshop. We have a lot of cupboards filled with samples of different weaves and colors. The air conditioner hums in the corner, though it struggles when the sun hits the windows in the afternoon. We spend most of our time on the phone or on the computer, talking to people about shipping dates and fabric quality. It’s a lot of paperwork. Sometimes the printer jams right when we need to finish a set of documents, which is always frustrating. We keep a stash of biscuits in the drawer for when the day gets too long. It’s a simple setup—just desks, chairs, and a lot of samples. We aren't trying to impress anyone with the decor; we just want to get the work done and make sure the silk gets to where it’s supposed to go. The carpet is a bit worn near the door from everyone walking in and out.
