Damodar Granite

Over on Old Municipality Road in Ilkal, we have our small setup for Damodar Granite. Ilkal is a place where everyone knows about stone, so we just do our part. Our address is 31/142, and it’s a spot we’ve called home for many years now. The day usually starts early with a cup of tea before we start moving the blocks. Granite is heavy and stubborn, so you have to learn how to work with it properly. We don’t have a big corporate team or anything like that. It’s just a few of us making sure the slabs are cut right and ready for whoever needs them. Sometimes the machinery acts up and we have to spend half the morning fixing it, which can be frustrating, but that’s part of the job. The dust gets everywhere, no matter how much you clean. People walk in from the street asking about prices or looking for specific colors. We show them what’s in the yard and let them decide. It’s a simple way to make a living. We don’t try to be anything we aren’t. Just a local business in Ilkal trying to keep things steady. Most of our days are spent checking measurements and watching the saws go back and forth. It’s slow work but it gets done eventually. We aren't in a hurry and we just take each day as it comes along on Old Municipality Road.
