Man And Machine

Our shop, Man And Machine, is located at No. 263 on G. T Road South in Shibpur. If you know Howrah, you know how busy G. T Road gets. It’s the main artery for everything moving through here. We’re right in the thick of it. The building is a functional space where we handle all sorts of mechanical things. It’s often greasy and there’s usually something being taken apart on the main workbench. We don't have a fancy showroom or a bunch of salespeople in ties. It’s just us in our work shirts, figuring out how to fix or maintain different pieces of equipment. The noise from the heavy trucks outside is something we don’t even notice anymore. We start our day early, usually with a quick sweep of the floor before the real work begins. We have tools hanging on every wall and spare parts tucked into every corner. It’s a bit of a maze if you don't know your way around. We’ve been at No. 263 for a long time and we like being part of the Shibpur community. People stop by just to chat or ask a quick question about a machine. We don't use big words or try to sell people stuff they don't need. We just look at the machine and tell them what’s what. The walls of our shop are covered in calendars from years ago and photos of finished projects. It’s a bit of a history of what we’ve done here. We enjoy being here even with all the grease.
