Royal Brick Industry

Over in Kurchiberai, right in the Shyampur area, you’ll find the Royal Brick Industry. It’s basically a large open field where we spend most of our time under the sun. We’ve been here for years, working with the local soil to get the bricks just right. It’s a process that takes time and you can’t really rush it, no matter how much you want to. We have a group of workers who live nearby, and we’ve become like a small community out here. The work is physically demanding, especially when we have to move thousands of bricks by hand. We don’t have much in the way of fancy offices. Most of our meetings happen standing up in the middle of the field or near the kiln. We keep an eye on the clouds because a sudden downpour can ruin a whole batch of drying bricks. It’s a bit of a gamble with the weather sometimes. People from the surrounding villages usually come to us when they’re starting a new build. We don't do a lot of talking; we just show them what we have in stock and figure out the delivery. It’s an honest way to spend the day. The dust gets everywhere, and the heat from the fires is intense, but it’s what we know. We’re just a local business trying to do our part in Shyampur without any unnecessary drama or polish. We just keep the fires burning and the stacks high.
