Maa Annapurna Rice Mill

The mill is right here in Vill- Bainan. If you know the Bagnan area you probably know where the post office and police station are located. We are Maa Annapurna Rice Mill and we spend most of our hours around the machines. There is always a lot of noise when the mill is running and the smell of raw grain is everywhere. It gets into your clothes and hair by the end of the shift. We get a lot of tractors coming through the village to drop off their loads. Sometimes the yard gets backed up and we have to move things around to make room. It is hard work and your hands get rough from handling the sacks. The weather affects how much we do because rain makes everything slower and more difficult. We have a small office where we sit down for tea when there is a break. The ceiling fan there makes a clicking sound but it keeps us cool enough. People from around Bagnan know they can find us here. We don't have a big team just a few of us making sure the rice gets processed. The machines are old and they need a lot of oiling and care to keep them going. We just try to keep up with the demand from the local farms. It is a simple life in the village and the mill is a big part of it. We finish work when the last truck leaves.
