Maa Kali Oil Mill

Our mill is located in Kundu Para, over in the Bagnan area of Howrah. If you walk by, you can usually smell the oil being pressed. It’s a noisy place with the machines running most of the day. We’ve got a small crew of workers who handle the seeds and the pressing equipment. It’s physical work and you tend to go home covered in a bit of dust and oil. We’ve been operating in this neighborhood for a long time. People from around Kalyanpur come to us because they know we just do our work and don't make a big deal out of it. We aren't a giant factory; we are just a local mill doing things the old way. The floor is usually a bit slippery and the machines need a lot of oiling themselves to keep from squeaking too much. We spend our time checking the quality of what comes out and bagging it up. Sometimes a machine breaks down and we have to spend the afternoon fixing it instead of producing. That’s just part of the business. We don't have a marketing team or anything like that. We just focus on making sure the oil is good and the customers who come to the gate are treated fairly. It’s a simple, hardworking life here in Howrah and we wouldn't know what else to do with our days.
