If you go down Watkins Lane in the Salkia area of Howrah, you will find us at number 14. It’s a busy little spot right off Dobson Road. Kangaroo Kids is a place where we spend our days with a bunch of toddlers and young children. It’s never quiet here. Between the traffic outside and the kids playing inside, there is always some kind of noise. The building isn't anything special to look at from the outside, but we have tried to make it comfortable. We have these colorful mats on the floor and buckets of toys that always seem to end up in the middle of the hallway. The staff here are just local people who have a lot of patience. We don't use any big words or corporate talk when we speak to parents. We just tell them how their kid ate or if they had a nap. Salkia is a crowded place, so we have to be careful when the kids are being dropped off and picked up. The space is a bit tight, but we make it work. We have a small kitchen area where we heat up lunches. Sometimes the paint on the walls gets scuffed up from the toy cars, but we don't worry about it too much. It feels more like a home than a school. We just do our best to look after the little ones every day without making a big production out of it.
