Our office is tucked away in one of these lanes, far from the big glass buildings of the main city. It’s a modest place. We handle management services, which basically means we spend our day on the phone or working through files to help other businesses run their stuff. It’s a local operation, and most of us grew up around this part of West Bengal. The office isn't very big, so we all know each other’s business. We have a couple of old desks and some filing cabinets that have seen better days. When the power goes out, we just open the windows and wait for the generator or the lights to come back on. It’s an honest way to make a living. We don't have fancy marketing materials or a big sales team. Most of our work comes from people knowing who we are in the local area. It’s a practical, no-nonsense environment. We start early in the morning before the humidity gets too bad, and we usually wrap up once the sun starts to set over the rooftops. It’s just how we work here in Howrah.
