Sukmani Women Farmer Producer Company Limited

Sukmani Women Farmer Producer Company Limited is a group of women from around Nidhanwala in Moga. We work out of Jasbir Singh’s place. It started because a bunch of us wanted to handle our own farming business instead of just working in the background. It is mostly women running the show here, which is a bit different for this area. We grow various crops and try to sell them together to get a better deal. It’s a lot of coordination, and sometimes it gets a bit chaotic trying to get everyone on the same page. We meet up and talk about what we need to buy and when we should harvest. It’s not just about the farming, it’s about supporting each other in the village. Moga is a strong farming community, and we are proud to be a part of it. We don't have any fancy offices or anything like that. Most of our meetings happen in the fields or at the house. We have to balance the farm work with our responsibilities at home, so it makes for very long days. Sometimes we are tired, but seeing the results of our work makes it worth it. We are just regular people trying to make a better life for our families through farming. It's hard, simple work and we take it one day at a time. It isn't always easy but we stay at it because it belongs to us.
