Sidhu Vaishno Dhaba

Sidhu Vaishno Dhaba is situated on the Chandigarh Road in Hoshiarpur. We are not too far from the secretariat, so we get a mix of people traveling and locals who work in the government offices. Being a dhaba, we are used to the roadside life. There are always trucks and cars passing by on their way to Chandigarh. The seating is very basic, just the kind of stuff you expect at a place on the highway. We have big pots of tea going almost all the time. The kitchen is right there where you can see it, and the smoke from the tandoor is part of the atmosphere. Hoshiarpur - 146001 has its own pace, and we just follow that. We start our day when it is still dark to get the first batch of food ready for the early travelers. It is a lot of hard work, especially in the winter when it gets really cold outside. We don't have a fancy menu card, just a board or sometimes we just tell people what is ready. The floor is made of stone and we wash it down every night after we close. We don't have any big corporate goals. We just want to make sure people who stop here leave with a full stomach before they continue their journey. It is a humble place and we are just the people who run it every day with our own hands.
