Om Cements & Co

We are located over at 7-9-11 on Pargi Road, which is right across from the Pargi Bus Stand. It is a very busy spot because of all the buses coming and going, so there is always a bit of a crowd nearby. Being so close to Venkateswara Hall means we see a lot of people passing through for different events too. At Om Cements & Co, we spend most of our time dealing with heavy bags and a lot of dust. That is just the nature of working with cement, I guess. Our clothes are usually covered in it by the end of the shift. We’ve been here for a good number of years and have seen the road get paved and the bus stand get busier. It’s a straightforward business. We take the deliveries, stack the bags, and then help load them onto trucks or carts when people buy them. There isn't much room for sitting around. We have a small desk where we keep the papers, but mostly we are out on the floor. The sun can be quite harsh on this stretch of Pargi Road, so we try to get the heavy lifting done early when we can. It’s a local operation, and we know most of the regulars who come in from the nearby villages. We just keep our heads down and do the work that needs doing every single day without making a big fuss about it.
