Ma Shree Gopal Ji Halwai

If you walk down Gali B-11 in Subhash Nager, you will find Ma Shree Gopal Ji Halwai. We are located in the Jwalapur area of Haridwar, and we have been making sweets and snacks here for a long time. Our shop is tucked away in one of the lanes, so it is not as noisy as the main roads, but we still stay very busy. We start our work very early in the morning when the air is still cool, getting the large pans ready and starting on the day's batches. Being a halwai is a lot of standing and working with heat, but it is what we know how to do. We do not use any fancy machines; most of the work is done by hand, just like it has been for years. Jwalapur is a lively neighborhood, and we see many of our neighbors every day when they come in to get something sweet for their families. We do not have any corporate branding or expensive packaging. We just use simple boxes and wrap things up in paper. Haridwar is a special place to live and work, and we feel lucky to have our small spot in Subhash Nager. We do not try to be the biggest shop in town. We just focus on making things the way we were taught and making sure the shop is open when people expect it to be. It is a quiet, steady life.
