Himanshi Beauty Parlour

You can find us on the first floor of the Krishna Complex in Morar. Gwalior is always a bit noisy, and Baradari Chowk is right in the middle of all that action, so there is never a quiet moment outside our windows. The stairs up to the parlour are a bit narrow, but once you get inside, it’s a decent enough space. We’ve set it up with the basic things a woman needs for her hair and skin. It isn’t a high-end boutique or anything like that. We mostly deal with the ladies living around Morar who need their eyebrows done or maybe a hair wash. During the wedding season, things get a bit chaotic because everyone wants their makeup done at the same time. We try to keep up, but sometimes people have to wait on the bench for a bit. We usually have the radio playing in the background to drown out the traffic noise from the chowk. It’s a very local kind of place where everyone ends up talking about their families or what’s happening in the market. We don't have a big marketing plan; people usually just hear about us from their neighbors or friends. We just keep our heads down and do the work every day from morning to night. It’s a simple living and we’ve been at this for several years now without much fuss.
