Hiranya Kimar Khaund. My place is in Ranibari, which is over in the Pan Bazar area of Guwahati. Pan Bazar is a bit different from some of the other commercial zones; it has its own feel with all the bookshops and cafes nearby. Ranibari is a nice enough spot to be located. It’s a bit more settled than the frantic pace of Fancy Bazaar. I have a small office here where I handle my daily work. It’s a simple setup with a desk that’s seen better days and a few bookshelves filled with old binders. I don't have any staff to answer the phones, so if you call, you’ll usually just get me directly. The neighborhood is fairly easy to navigate, and I like being in this part of the city. There’s a certain routine to my days here. I arrive, open up the windows to let some air in, and start working through whatever is on my desk. The walls are mostly bare, except for a map and a small clock that ticks quite loudly when the room is quiet. I’ve lived in Guwahati for a long time, and I appreciate the way Pan Bazar stays busy without being totally overwhelming. It’s a good place for someone who just wants to put their head down and get their tasks finished. I don't have any grand plans for the office; it works just fine for me as it is. It’s just a honest, quiet space in Ranibari.
