Arun Agarwal. You can find me at the C M Complex, which is on the first floor in the Kamarpatty area. It’s right in the heart of Fancy Bazaar, which anyone in Guwahati will tell you is the busiest place in the whole city. Specifically, we are on Maszid Lane. It’s a narrow little street and it stays pretty crowded with shoppers and vendors throughout the day. The building itself is older, but it serves its purpose. Working in Fancy Bazaar means you are always surrounded by the smells of street food and the noise of the markets. The office is just a simple room where I handle my daily affairs. There’s a desk, some chairs, and a shelf for books and records. I don’t go for anything fancy; I just need a place to sit and concentrate. Sometimes it gets a bit loud outside, but you get used to it after a few weeks. The Maszid Lane area has a lot of history and character. People are always rushing past the entrance to the C M Complex. I’ve lived and worked in Guwahati for a long time, so I’m comfortable with the pace here. The first floor is convenient since it’s just one flight of stairs up from the chaos of the street. It’s a basic setup, nothing more and nothing less. I spend most of my day here checking through files and talking to people who drop by. It’s a life I’m used to.
