Our office is located at 314 Barua Market, right on TRP Road in the middle of Fancy Bazar. If you’ve ever been to Fancy Bazar, you know it is a place that never really sleeps. The noise from the street is constant, with people haggling and rickshaw horns blaring all day long. We are up on the third floor of a fairly old building. There is no elevator, so we get plenty of exercise walking up and down those stairs. At Binod Agencies, we act as wholesalers and distributors for various products. Our rooms are packed tight with boxes, leaving just enough space for a couple of desks and a few chairs for guests. We’ve been in this market for many years, and we’ve seen shops come and go, but we’ve managed to stay put. We don’t have a fancy corporate structure. It’s mostly just us and a couple of helpers who handle the heavy boxes. We spend a lot of time on the telephone, talking to suppliers from other cities and local shopkeepers who need to restock their shelves. Sometimes the monsoon rains leak through the old windows, and we have to scramble to move the stock. It’s a very grounded, practical business. We don’t do any advertising; people find us because they know where Barua Market is and they know we keep our word on prices and delivery.
