Mahima Kiryana

Mahima Kiryana is located in the Krishna Nagar area, just off the Basai Road in Sector 10. We are your typical local grocery shop that serves the families living nearby. We carry all the basics like flour, lentils, cooking oil, and snacks. The shop is quite small and every bit of wall space is covered with shelves. I spend most of my day behind the counter, weighing out loose items or scanning the few things that have barcodes. It’s a very social job because everyone who comes in lives just a few streets away. We talk about their kids or what they are cooking for dinner. My wife often comes in to help when the school lets out and the mothers stop by for their evening supplies. We have a small refrigerator for milk and cold drinks, but it’s mostly dry goods. The floor is made of simple tiles that I try to sweep whenever there is a quiet moment. It’s not a supermarket with bright lights and music. It’s just a humble place with a ceiling fan that squeaks a little. We keep a ledger for the regulars who pay at the end of the month. Sometimes it gets a bit chaotic when three or four people are asking for things at once. We just do our best to serve everyone in order. It’s a steady way to live and we feel like we are part of the community. Nothing fancy, just the basics.
