Andaaz

We are located on Khandsa Road in Shivaji Nagar, at number 41371. The shop is mostly full of fabrics and ready-made clothes. We have rolls of cloth stacked against the walls and some mannequins in the window wearing the latest things we’ve put out. It’s a bit of a crowded space, especially when we get a new shipment in. There are threads on the floor and the sound of scissors cutting through cotton most afternoons. We do a bit of tailoring in the back, so there is usually a sewing machine humming away. It’s a noisy street outside with bikes and rickshaws constantly passing by. People pop in to look at colors or to see if we can fix a hem for them. We don't use a lot of fancy words to describe what we have. It’s just clothes that people can wear every day. Sometimes we sit on the wooden counter and talk to the neighbors who walk past. The lighting isn't the best, but we know where everything is kept. We spend a lot of time measuring arms and waists with a yellow tape measure that hangs around my neck. It’s a simple business. We open the doors in the morning, sweep the front step, and wait for the day to start. It’s just us doing our work in this corner of Shivaji Nagar.
