About Mahajan Manvi Architect – Architect, Interior & Structural Design in Gurdaspur
Our office is tucked inside Mahajan Crockery House, right at Gadhi Ahatta Chowk. It’s a bit of a strange spot for an architect if you think about it, being surrounded by plates and tea sets, but it works for us. The chowk is always noisy with rickshaws and people shouting, but once you get inside, the sound fades out. We’ve been here for a long time. My desk is usually covered in crumbs from whatever snack I picked up from the vendor outside and a lot of messy sketches. The lighting isn't the best, especially when the clouds come over, but it’s where I get everything done. Sometimes customers for the crockery shop wander into my workspace by mistake, looking for dinner sets, and we have a laugh about it before I point them the right way. It’s a family building, so there is always someone coming in or out to say hello or offer some chai. The floor is old tile and the shelves are packed with books on design mixed with some old catalogs. I don't have a fancy sign outside, just the usual bustle of the market. It feels real. You can hear the city moving outside the window all day long. It's not a polished studio, just a practical corner where I sit and draw for hours. We keep a stack of old blueprints in the corner that we probably should have archived years ago.
