If you are ever in Dina Nagar, you will probably see Gupta House right opposite the main bus stand. That is where we run Gupta Iron And Steel. Being across from the bus stand means it is always noisy and crowded, with buses pulling in and out at all hours. It is a good landmark though, because nobody ever gets lost trying to find us. The building is our own place, and we have been here in the Gurdaspur district for quite some time. We deal mostly in iron and steel products that the local builders and farmers need. The office is on the ground floor, which makes it easy for people to just walk in and ask about prices or availability. We keep things very informal here. There is usually a pot of tea going and some old wooden chairs for people to sit on while we talk. It is not a high-tech operation. We still use a lot of handwritten notes and physical registers to keep track of things. The walls are lined with calendars and old photos, giving the place a real sense of history. We know most of our customers by their first names because they have been coming to Gupta House for years. It is a family-type atmosphere where we just focus on the daily trade of iron and steel and making sure everyone gets what they came for without any unnecessary delay.
