Srijoni Mahila is a company run by women farmers in Rangjuli. We are based in Adopara village in Goalpara. It’s a small operation where we all come together to manage our farming work. Most of us have been farming our whole lives, so starting this company was just a way to organize what we were already doing. We don't have a fancy office or any big equipment. We meet in the village, often outdoors or in one of our homes, to talk about the crops and how things are going. The life here is simple and follows the rhythm of the rain and the sun. We grow what we can and try to help each other out when things get tough. Sometimes the harvest is good and sometimes it’s not, but we just keep going. We don’t use any big words or have a complicated business plan. It’s just about making sure we can support our families through our work on the land. People in Goalpara know us as their neighbors first. We spend our days in the fields and our evenings doing the company books by lamplight sometimes. It’s not a glamorous life, but it’s ours. We aren't trying to be a big corporation; we just want to do our work and keep the farm running in Adopara. It is just us women working the land and figuring things out together.
