Asomiya Mahila Poultry Producer Company Limited is a group of women here in Goalpara who decided to do something together. We are based out of Deepti Basumatary’s house in Thekasu Pt-I, right along the Damra Road in Dudhnoi. It started small, with just a few of us talking about our chickens and how to make a bit more money from them. Raising poultry is a full-time job, especially when you have to balance it with everything else at home. We don’t have a fancy warehouse or a big corporate structure. It’s just us meeting in the yard or at Deepti’s place to figure out the feed and the sales. Sometimes it’s a bit chaotic with all the birds and the kids running around, but we make it work. We aren't polished business people. We are just local women who know how to raise good chickens. Being part of this group helps us feel less alone in the work. We share tips on keeping the birds healthy and try to find better ways to sell them locally. It isn't always easy, and sometimes the market prices are a real disappointment. But we keep going because it’s our own thing. If you’re driving down Damra Road and see the sign for Thekasu, that’s where we are. We are just hardworking women trying to build something for ourselves and our families, one bird at a time.
