Shri Satguru Rolling Mills (P) Ltd. is situated out on Meerut Road, which is always thick with industrial traffic. Being a rolling mill, the heat is the main thing you notice when you walk inside the gates. The machines have a constant hum and thump that you eventually stop hearing after working here for a few months. We aren't a small shop; it's a private limited setup, so there are more people running around and more safety gear involved than your average trader. The floor is usually covered in scrap and bits of scale from the rolling process. We spend a lot of time monitoring the furnaces and making sure the metal is coming out the way it is supposed to. Meerut Road is a tough place to work because of the constant noise and the smoke from all the nearby factories, but it's where the work is. Our office is just a side room where the lightbulbs flicker sometimes when the heavy machinery kicks in. We don't spend much time worrying about how the place looks to outsiders. As long as the mill is running and the orders are moving out onto the highway, we are doing alright. It is hard, physical work that leaves everyone tired by the end of the shift. We just focus on the daily production and try to keep the machines from breaking down too often in the middle of a big job.
