Sakshi Metal Work

The workshop is located in Kavi Nagar at D-1/A. It’s an industrial spot, so it is never quiet around here. We have been doing metal work for quite some time, mostly welding and cutting pieces to size. The floor is concrete and always has some bits of scrap metal lying around. We wear heavy boots and gloves because things can get pretty hot and sharp. It is not a clean job; our hands are usually covered in grease or soot by the end of the day. We have some heavy machinery that makes a lot of noise when it is running. Sometimes the neighborhood kids stop by to watch the sparks fly from the welding torch, but we tell them to keep back for safety. We make all sorts of things, from gate frames to small brackets for construction. It’s physical work that leaves you tired when the sun goes down. We have a small desk in the corner for taking orders, but most of the time is spent on the shop floor. The roof is made of tin, so it gets very loud when it rains. We don't have a big marketing plan or anything like that. People just know we are here and they bring their metal jobs to us. We just focus on doing the task right and getting the pieces out the door on time. It is a steady way to make a living here in Kavi Nagar.
