Rathi Steel Bars

You can find us at Plot No-308 in the Loha Mandi area, right off Bulandshahar Road. It’s a massive area dedicated to iron and steel, and we are right in the thick of it. The bus stand isn’t far away, so there’s a constant stream of traffic and people moving through the streets at all hours. Our plot is mostly used for storing the steel bars that we handle every day. They are piled up in heavy stacks, and you have to be careful walking between them so you don't trip. The office is just a tiny room built into the corner of the lot with a single window that looks out over the yard. It gets pretty dusty because of all the trucks driving on the unpaved parts of the Mandi. We spend our mornings checking the arrivals and our afternoons getting things ready for the buyers. There’s a lot of shouting and signaling when the cranes are moving, and it can be a bit overwhelming if you’re not used to that kind of noise. We drink tea from the small stall at the corner of Bulandshahar Road a few times a day to keep us going. The work is simple but it requires a lot of physical effort and attention to the numbers on the sheets. It’s not a glamorous place, just a lot of metal and hard work under the hot sun. We’ve been part of this Loha Mandi community for years and we like the routine.
