You will find Narrottam Bhai D Gedia at Office No 1 in the E Block of Ajay Enclave. It’s right on the ground floor in Subhash Nagar, which makes it easy since you don’t have to deal with any broken elevators. The office is a bit small and the air can get a little stuffy if we don’t leave the door open. There is a lot of paper everywhere, mostly because we still like to keep physical copies of everything. My desk is right by the entrance and I usually have a cup of cold tea sitting there that I forgot to drink. People walk past the window all day, and sometimes someone will wave. The floor is that old-fashioned tile that stays cool even when it’s boiling outside. We have a few cupboards that are bulging with old records and a clock on the wall that is five minutes fast, but we never bother to fix it. It is just a practical space for working. We don’t have a receptionist or anything like that. If you walk in, whoever is closest to the door will look up and help you out. The street outside is usually lined with parked bikes, so you have to squeeze through. It’s a very local atmosphere, nothing like those corporate parks with glass walls. We’ve been in this spot for a while now and know the rhythms of the building and the shopkeepers nearby.
