Gurpreet Engineering Works

You can find Gurpreet Engineering Works right across from the Shani Mandir on GT Road. It is a noisy area because of all the traffic, and the temple gets quite busy on Saturdays. We’ve been set up here for a long time. Our shop floor is usually covered in metal shavings and oil, which is how it should be in a place like this. We spend most of our time at the machines, fixing things or making parts. It is hard work and our clothes usually end up pretty dirty by the end of the shift. The heat from the welding and the engines can get intense, especially during the summer months. We don't have air conditioning, just some old wall fans that move the air around a bit. People know us because we’ve been in this same spot forever. We don't use any fancy computer systems for our work, just our hands and the old tools that have worked for years. Sometimes a customer will sit on the bench outside and wait while we finish a small job. We talk about the weather or how busy the road is today. It isn't a glamorous job, but it is honest. We take pride in just getting the work done without making a big fuss about it. If you walk past the temple, you will probably hear the sound of our hammers hitting the metal.
