Modern Steel

Modern Steel is situated about 4 Km out on Meerut Road. We are quite close to Gorangi Motors Pvt Ltd, which is a good landmark if you are trying to find us. Being on the main road means we get a lot of dust and noise from the passing cars and trucks. We have a yard where we keep all the steel stock piled up. It’s not a very modern-looking place despite the name we have. We use some old sheds to store the more sensitive items so they don't get wet. The ground is mostly gravel and dirt, which gets really muddy when it rains heavily. We spend most of our time out in the yard measuring lengths of steel for the customers who drop by. We have a small cabin that serves as our office for the paperwork. It’s got an old fan that wobbles a bit on the ceiling. Modern Steel is a straightforward business without any frills. We don't use a lot of fancy words or have big meetings like they do in the city. We just load the trucks and hand-write the invoices for the day. Sometimes the electricity goes out and we just have to wait around for it to come back. There’s a small dhaba down the road where we get our lunch every afternoon. It’s been our daily routine for a long time. We know the regular drivers who come by. Meerut Road is always busy.
