Our shop is tucked inside the Jyani Compound on Gt Road in Sahibabad. It is easy to miss if you are driving too fast on the main road, as it sits back a bit from the heavy traffic. We deal with all kinds of mobile phone work, mostly recharges and small repairs. The compound itself has a few different businesses, so there is always someone coming or going. The walls of our shop are covered with old calendars and a few shelves for mobile accessories like earphones and batteries. It’s a small space, barely enough for a desk and a couple of chairs for customers. The Gt Road is always noisy with buses and trucks, so we usually have to keep the door shut to hear the phone. We’ve been at this location for a good amount of time and know most of the other shop owners in the compound. It’s a lot of sitting and waiting for customers, then being very busy all at once when a group of people comes in. Sometimes the power cuts out and we have to use a small lamp to finish a repair. We don't have a website or anything like that; people just know we are here in the compound through word of mouth. It’s honest work and we try to do it right without making things too complicated. Every evening we tidy up the counter and head home, ready to do it all again the next morning.
