Spice Hotspot

If you're walking down Ambedkar Road, you'll find us at Purshottam Place, number 31. It’s a busy street and there’s always something going on outside our door. We started Spice Hotspot because we liked the food we grew up with. It's nothing fancy, just a few tables and a kitchen that stays pretty warm most of the time. The walls could probably use a new coat of paint, but we spend most of our time dealing with the food anyway. We get a lot of office workers coming in for lunch. Sometimes they’re in a big hurry, so we try to move fast. It’s just a couple of us working here, doing the cooking and the cleaning. We buy our ingredients from the local market every morning. If the vegetables aren't good that day, we just change what we're making. It’s simpler that way. Some people have been coming here since we first opened. They usually order the same thing every single time. It’s nice to know their faces and what they like. The traffic on Ambedkar Road is loud, but you get used to the noise after a few weeks. We don't do much advertising or anything like that. People just see the sign and walk in. We’re just happy to be open and serving the neighborhood. It’s a lot of work, but it keeps us busy and out of trouble. We'll be here tomorrow as long as the stove keeps working.
