Hindustan Iron & Steel Co.

We are over at Hindustan Iron & Steel Co., located near the Avery Dharam Kata at Vehalne Chowk on Meerut Road. Having the Dharam Kata right next to us is actually very handy because everything we sell needs to be weighed properly anyway. Meerut Road is one of those places that never really sleeps, so there is always a lot of activity right outside our gate. We have a lot of iron and steel stock piled up, and it can get a bit messy when we get a big shipment in at the same time as a customer arrives. The office is just a simple room with a fan that clicks a lot and some old wooden chairs. We spend a lot of time checking the weights and making sure the bills are correct. The sun hits the yard pretty hard in the afternoon, making the metal hot to the touch, so we usually try to do the heavy loading in the morning hours. It is a noisy place with the sound of the traffic and the clank of iron, but we are used to it. The team here has been together for a while, and we just go about our business without a lot of talking. We know who the regulars are and we make sure their orders are set aside. It is just a regular day-to-day operation where we handle heavy materials and try to keep the yard organized.
