Balbir Engineers & Fabricators is located at B-190A in Nandgram, right off the main Meerut Road. If you’ve been around here, you know it’s a busy, dusty area with trucks constantly rolling by. Our shop is usually a bit of a mess with scraps of iron and welding rods laying around. We do a lot of heavy lifting and metal work. It’s loud because of the grinders and the hammering, so we’ve all gotten used to shouting a bit to be heard. We’ve been at this spot for quite some time now. The walls are stained with smoke and the floor is never really clean no matter how much we sweep. It’s just us, a few guys who know how to handle a torch and a bender. We don’t do big presentations or have a fancy showroom. Most of our work comes from people walking in with a sketch or a broken frame. We figure it out as we go. Lunch is usually a quick affair, sitting on whatever crates are empty. The traffic on Meerut Road can be a real headache, especially when we’re trying to load a finished piece onto a customer's truck. But it's a good spot for business since everyone passes by. We just keep our heads down and do the work. It’s nothing special, just honest fabrication done by hand. We like the feeling of finishing a project and seeing it go out. It's just a normal way to earn a living.
