Ashok Engineering Works

You can find us at Seva Nagar, right across from the Neem Gas Agencies on Meerut Road. We’re in shop B-430. It’s easy to spot if you know where Aggarwal Sweets is. We do engineering work, mostly fixing things and making small parts. The shop is small and packed with machines. There's always the smell of cutting oil and metal shavings on the floor. We’ve been here for years. My father started this, and now we just keep it going. It’s not a corporate office. We wear overalls and our hands are usually stained with grease. We get a lot of walk-ins from the neighborhood. Someone brings a broken hinge or a part from a motor, and we see what we can do. It’s honest work. We don't have a website or anything like that. People just know us because we've been on Meerut Road for so long. The traffic outside is always loud. Sometimes it’s hard to hear the phone ring over the sound of the lathe. We keep a ledger for the accounts. Everything is done by hand. We aren't trying to be the biggest shop, just the one that stays open and gets things finished. If you need something welded or turned, we’re usually around. We take our tea breaks outside when the sun isn't too hot. It’s a busy life, but it suits us just fine. We just focus on the job at hand and moving on to the next.
