Being over at D-74/10 in Loha Mandi means you're always surrounded by iron and the constant noise of the market. Arvind Steels is right in the thick of it on B.S. Road. If you come by in the afternoon, the heat coming off the metal stacks can be something else entirely. We spend a lot of time on the phone or out back checking the inventory. It’s a gritty spot, to be honest. There’s always grease on someone’s hands and the sound of heavy machinery echoing from somewhere in the distance. We don't have a big fancy office with air conditioning that works all the time. It’s more about the actual physical work. We've got our daily routine down. One guy handles the loading, another watches the gate. Loha Mandi is a busy place, and if you aren't paying attention, you'll get blocked in by a massive trailer for an hour. The office at D-74/10 is small, mostly filled with old paper ledgers and some plastic chairs that have seen better days. We don't mind it. It’s home for us for most of the week. Sometimes we share a meal together in the back when things finally quiet down in the evening. You get used to the smell of diesel and the rhythmic clanging of steel bars. It’s just the way life goes here at Arvind Steels. We don’t try to make it look like a showroom. It’s a steel yard in a crowded market, plain and simple. We just do our part.
